{Advice} Get you dress for less

A wedding planner with whom I have been in contact (can you say new vendor directory?!) pointed me to this article yesterday. I had skimmed it before, since I generally enjoy reading/listening to NPR, but had totally missed this line:

“A bride’s dress can signal how wealthy she is, what her status in society is. But it can also signal how seriously she’s taking this marriage.

Oh, give me a break. Really? Lies. We can, and we will, have beautiful weddings in budget-friendly dresses (or whatever we choose to wear), and we will also have beautiful marriages, no matter what we pay for our day-of attire.

Vintage budget wedding dress

Here are my favorite ways to find your PERFECT dress for less (in the Northwest!):
  1. Go vintage! Find a dress at a local vintage shop, like the one above, $125 from Liberty Lake, Wash. based etsy shop JL Vintage.
    • Other great options for vintage:
  2. Choose consignment or thrift! Find a dress at a specialty bridal consignment boutique or a charity thrift shop.

  3. Head to a bridal outlet. Check out the new dresses at fractions of their original prices.

  4. Check the clearance section of your local bridal shop. Sometimes you will find lots of treasures!
