And now, a peek into my weekend. Here's the story: I went to Rosauers (a grocery store) on Saturday to grab a few things to get me through between now and when I leave to visit my parents for Christmas. I saw bunches of flowers on sale for $3, and though, "Hmmmm ... Maybe I should try to do a centerpiece mock-up."

So I bought $6 worth of flowers, and guess what? SUCCESS!

Here's my inspiration:

And here were my results:

This would be for our buffet tables.

This would be our guestbook & card table.

This would be for the tables where guests can eat.

What I discovered: For a little over $6 worth of flowers from a grocery store, I was able to create the centerpieces for an entire food buffet table, where the most flowers will be used. Doing the math, I found that I could do all of the flowers for my reception for $75!

The jury's still out on whether I'll hire a florist for the ceremony flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres, etc.), but I definitely think we're going the DIY route on the reception.
