{Love Story} Stephen & Lindsie

Stephen and I are high school sweethearts. :) We met my freshman year of high school, when he asked me for my number on a bet. Yeah, a bet.

We were both in the cast for our school's production of The Crucible (actually as husband and wife), and we had sat next to one another at the first rehearsal. We were required to get the phone number of at least one person on the cast so that there would be someone to get play info from other than the director in case of emergency.

Stephen turned to me and said, "Hey, I don't know anyone here. Can I get your number to use as my contact?"

Needless to say, I wasn't too happy when I found out that was Stephen a junior who had participated in every play since he had gotten to high school, and that he knew almost every other cast member.

And then I found out that there was a bet between him and another guy on cast to see who could get my number first. He won. And he also won my disdain.

That's how things went between us for about a year. I hated him. He thought I was cute, but found me annoying.

Then, my sophomore year we were cast together in another show, again as a couple. This show had us spending a lot more time together both on and off stage, though. We started chatting and found out we had a lot in common. Slowly, we grew to be extremely close.

Neither of us was interested in a relationship, though. He had just been through a bad break up, and I was of the opinion that dating in high school was a bad idea.

Halloween of my sophomore year we went to a school dance together, sort of as "safety dates." Since neither of us wanted a relationship, there was no chance of complication, or so we thought.

When we danced, both of us knew. It was like everything just clicked. We were in love.
