{Inspiration} Rustic & nature-inspired in Portland

Today's the most fabulous day because I finally get to share with you our inspiration shoot in Portland that we did in celebration of Wed4Less's first birthday! (We did one in Spokane too! See that one next week!)

 

We wanted the shoot to be distinctly northwest. We took inspiration from nature, beer and rustic colors. I'm so pleased with the beautiful images from RedFred Productions and Heather Fitch Photography!

Panache Weddings & Events perfectly styled the rustic moss-covered tables with items provided by Something Borrowed {Portland}. I love how the mason jars and various bottles and vintage books all work together to make a beautiful tablescape! And the Hoyt Arboretum served as the perfect background!

The super rustic-chic menu was designed by Pacific Miles Creations.

I just love how this rustic bouquet, created by Lora of Sophisticated Floral Designs, has the muted colors classic to the rustic look, but brings in pops of oranges and purples. Absolutely perfect!

 

Our model was dressed up with the most lovely hair and makeup styling from Janelle Hayden.

And a birthday cupcake for Wed4Less's birthday! Yay!

{Real Wedding} Winter wonderland for $7K

With the storms of snow that have been hitting the northwest lately, I just knew I had to feature this wedding today. I admit, I only received the completed submission today, and I had another post scheduled for today, but I just couldn't resist!

Can you see what i mean? Just perfect.

Cassandra and Michael wedding at Timberline Lodge in Mt. Hood, Oregon was done for approximately $7000, and the whole thing was gorgeously captured by Sikora Photography.

The wedding was not without its follies, with the first dance song being incorrect and with the groom finding himself without pants. Just wait until you read the stories (below). In the end, though, the bride described it as the perfect day.

From the bride:

We saved on dresses- our bridesmaids dresses were on clearance at the Limited (only $40 each) and were the exact color I had wanted. We planned to make them but they looked awkward and unflattering when finished so we were in a mad dash four weeks to the wedding to find dresses.

♥ {Splurges} venue

From the bride:

Our splurge was the venue. Early in our relationship, Michael and I learned to snowboard together on Mt. Hood and our time together on the mountain really represented a pivotal point in the evolution of our relationship and therefore has a special significance for us as a couple. Timberline Lodge is so iconic- it’s regal, rustic, and rife with historical significance.

From the bride:

Working with limited means urged us to be creative and what’s a NW wedding without coffee? We are hobbyist coffee roasters so for our favors we roasted our own beans and made chocolate dipped biscotti and our guests loved it.

From the bride:

Mike isn’t a big dancer and our first dance was a bit of a flub because I accidentally gave the DJ the wrong song title. However, by the later part of the evening, people had warmed up to the dance floor and Mike, myself, and Benjamin (our 1 year old) shared a dance.    

We spun around with Benjamin until we were all laughing and giddy with dizziness. With twinkling white lights strung about the cathedral ceiling and the summit faintly aglow in the evening sky as our backdrop, it was simply magical. It felt like a flash back to when you’re 7 and carefree and awash with the wonder of such innocent joys as spinning in a circle.

From the bride:

We had another blooper about 30 minutes till the wedding. Mike’s tux was without pants. We rented his tuxedo and when he picked it up in town didn’t check what was there. We were at the lodge, 2 hours from the tuxedo shop before we realized he had no pants. The groomsmen and one of our male guests played musical pants and fortunately all was well, but for a moment I’m told Mike thought about going down in his boxers. Needless to say, I’m glad he didn’t!
