{My Wedding} Fear of flowers & an announcement!

Flowers scare me. Actually, I need to re-word that. If you're offended by cursing, please do not read this next sentence and instead skip to the next paragraph. Flowers scare the hell out of me (and I could enter a few more expletives, but I'll abstain).

I know what I like (and you do too, if you follow me on pinterest):

There are some common threads. Yellow. Loose. Billy balls. Peonies. Some greens.

But you know what? I have no idea {one} of what any of this will cost or {two} of how to put any of it together.

And I'm a DIY girl, so this is a problem. I love DIY, and I would love to DIY flowers. But I just don't know if that's in the cards. Another secret? I'm a total control freak. I kind of hate hiring vendors, because each vendor I hire means one less thing that I have complete control over.

At the same time, it'll probably be better if I give up some control. I'll probably be a lot more relaxed the week of my wedding and the day of my wedding if I'm not trying to make seven bouquets, a corsage and fourteen boutonnieres as well as all of my other last-minute DIY projects.

In fact, now that I write that out, the fact that I ever thought about DIY-ing seems pretty crazy.

So I'm interviewing florists. I'm thinking I want a small independent florist. And if that doesn't work, I'll be sending lots of emails to Dana at Spokane Bride Blog, since she is a wiz at DIY flowers.

But, the point of today: Here's to realizing that we cannot DIY everything. Budget brides and grooms we may be, but we still need our sanity.

And now for an {announcement}! I've been thinking a lot about how wedding planning is a different experience for grooms than it is for brides. And I've been thinking about how cool it would be to have the groom's perspective on here.

So ... I might have convinced my amazing fiance to write a post every two weeks or so about being a groom planning a wedding on a budget. (Yay!) Next week, I'll introduce our first groom's corner!

  1. That is such a good idea. I would love for my fiance to do something like that, but he thinks I am crazy, but sometimes I wish that I had it for me rather than my readers. Sometimes it is hard to know exactly what is going on in his head. (Also I don't have nearly as many readers as you, haha). Also, it seems as though we are very similar. I am a complete control freak and therefore a DIY-er also. I was going to DIY EVERYTHING. Then realized that I needed my sanity also. Good luck with finding a florist.

  2. So glad you like the idea! I think we'll be posting the first one on Friday. :) I know what you mean about getting inside their heads. I'm excited for that too!
